It is a complementary food for adult psittacine birds of the Loriini tribe. It contains highly digestible ingredients with a high proportion of dehydrated fruit and sugars.
It should not be used as an exclusive diet. It is advisable to offer it simultaneously with Lory Gel. Both products are complementary and they should be offered in separate feeders. Birds will ingest more or less of each product according to their needs. Both Lory Nectar and Lory Gel can be offered dry and/or mixed with water. Faecal consistency is improved when using the formulas dry.
When Lory Gel and Lory Nectar are offered mixed with water, add enough water to reach a creamy texture. Additionally, it is advisable to prepare the right amount to be consumed in a short period of time to prevent them from spoiling.
It is recommended to offer fruit and vegetables in order to provide variety to the diet.
Whenever chicks are present in the nest, it is advisable that the breeding pairs have Lory Special Hand Feeding (depending on the age of the chicks) also available.
As a reference, daily consumption varies between 8 and 16 g of dried gel and nectar per 100 g of body weight.
